YEARS AT GUERNSEY

Elmer, son of Nancy and Thomas Miner, was born in Deep River July 26, 1889, and died Apr. 17, at 74 years of age.

He attended Deep River school and business college at Drake University, then worked for several years in the Guernsey Bank. For 20 years he owned and operated a hardware and grocery store in Guernsey.

On Sept. 5, 1910, he was united in marriage with Martha Rieck, and to this union, three children were born. For the past 13 years, they have made their home in Deep River. In his youth, he joined the Methodist church and was a faithful member as long as his health permitted. He was a member of Golden Rod Lodge 512, AF&AM, of Deep River.

He is survived by his wife, their two daughters, Mrs. Marita Mehaffey, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Darlene Potter, Cincinnati, Ohio, a son, Dale of Marion, Iowa; eight grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Roy Wenager, of Cresco, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Apr. 19, at the Deep River Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Wm. Moorhouse. Mrs. Clint Icenbice, organist, played "Old Rugged Cross" and special numbers. Casket bearers were Eugene Merck, George Dale, Cleo McMains, Glenn Myerly, Leland Winegarden, and Arlo Taylor.

Interment was Golden Rod Cemetery, under direction of the Steffy Funeral Home.
