SERVICES HELD

Dohn "Jerry" Dean, 53, of rural Searsboro died of a heart attack Wednesday, Sept. 28, at a truck stop in Franklin Park, Ill.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. Burial was in Rising Sun Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

He was born July 3, 1935, in Des Moines and lived most of his life in that city. He had moved to Searsboro in 1975. Mr. Dean had been employed by Cedar Rapids Steel Transport.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Searsboro; a son, Navy Petty Officer Dohn Dean Jr. of Point Mugu Naval Air Station, Calif.; two daughters, Daphne Battey of Grinnell and DeLinda Jo Dean of Searsboro; one sister, Beth Sindrem of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Wayne Dean of Baytown, Texas; and five grandchildren.
