ADA M. KENNEDY

Ada M. Kennedy, 89, of Newton, formerly of Grinnell, died on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Nelson Manor in Newton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Banquet Room at the AmericInn, 4401 South 22nd Street E., in Newton.

Ada, the daughter of Ernest F. and Bertie M. Wade George, was born July 6, 1920, in Carrolton, Mo. She had lived in Newton, Des Moines, and Montezuma and also lived in Grinnell from 1975 until 2007, when she entered the nursing home. Ada volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center in Grinnell.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Dean of Newton; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy D. Kennedy in 1972; son, Richard L. Claussen; daughter, Sharon Brandon; step-son, Roy D. Kennedy, Jr.; and brother, Ernest George, Jr.
