RITES HELD FOR
MRS. CLAUSSEN

Beverly J. Claussen, 48, of Rte. 4, Grinnell, died of cancer Monday, May 5, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were Eugene Anderson, Larry Anderson, Mike Anderson, Jerry Claussen, Walt Claussen and Jack Morrison.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Walter and Margaret Anderson Oliver, she was born on Nov. 19, 1937, in Grinnell. She attended Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1956. She had worked as a telephone operator for United Telephone Co. of Newton.

On June 19, 1960, she was married to Richard Claussen in Newton. The couple lived near Grinnell, and she worked for DeLong Sportswear and Miracle Recreation Equipment Co. here. She also was a babysitter for several children in Grinnell.

Survivors include her husband, Richard, and one sister, Delores Oliver of Rte. 4, Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son.
