DIES IN ARKANSASHarris Daniel Shaw, 87, a former resident of Grinnell who iived here some 60 years, died June 13th at the home of his daughter in Fayetteville, Ark.
Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. G.S. Bruland, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Rhee Auman.
Pallbearers were Adolph Krumm, August F. Otcheck, Raymond L. George, Francis D. Cox, Robert Otcheck and W.B. Hoyt. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
He was the son of Julius and Helen Mead Shaw and was born in Genoa, Neb., Jan. 12th, 1874. When he was a small boy, the family moved to Newton for a few years and then came to Grinnell.
On Mar. 22nd, 1898, he was united in marriage with Nellie Frazier in Grinnell. To this union three children were born: Miss Ruth Shaw and Mrs. Frances Miller, both of Fayetteville, Ark., and a son, Leland, who died in infancy.
Mr. Shaw was employed at the Grinnell glove factory for 49 years and retired from his position
there at the age of 75. He was a member of the Grinnell Methodist church and the Bob Coutts Sunday school class. In his earlier years he was active in the Salvation Army. Mr. Shaw will be remembered as a member of the Methodist Church Sunday School band.He was preceded in death by his wife in August of 1950 and soon after moved to be near his daughters in Fayetteville. While there, he transferred his membership to the Central Methodist church.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and son. Survivors include his two daughters and several nieces and nephews.
