IONA "ONIE" JOHNSON

Iona "Onie" Johnson, 88, of Montezuma died Feb. 25, at Grinnell Hospital. Servics were March 2, at Montezuma Methodist Church. Burial was in Jackson Townshp Cemetery, Montezuma.

Iona Irene Johnson, daughter of Clint C. and Ivah (Hanawalt) Icenbice was born Jan. 29, 1925 in Deep River. She was graduated from Deep River High School in 1942.

On March 2, 1947, Onie was united in marriage to Farrell R. Johnson. To this union two children were born, Terry and Sheryl. Farrell and Onie in the Deep River area all of their life.

Onie enjoyed camping, especially at the Iowa state Fair, where they camped for nearly 60 years. She also enjoyed quilting, the Chicago Cubs and spending time with her family. Onie was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church, Lafayette Chapter No. 232 Order of the Eastern Star and the Sunshine Sisters.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Jane) Johnson of New Hampton and Sheryl Johnson of Fort Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren, Allen (Tanya) Johnson, Aaron (Amanda) Johnson, Ann (Jesse Stock) Johnson and Mariah Meissner and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Johnson, Reed Johnson and Julia Johnson.

Iona was preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Ivah Icenbice; her husband, Farrell Johnson in 2005; a grandson, Sean Meissner; a brother, Kenneth Icenbice; and infant twin sisters, Murial and Mariam.
