DEEP RIVER RESIDENT
DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Funeral services were held Oct. 19 in Deep River for a former Deep River mayor, fire chief and school board member, P.J. (Phineas Jerome) Icenbice, who died Oct. 15 in California at the age of 77.

The son of David and Sarah Jane Icenbice, Mr. Icenbice was born near Deep River in Poweshiek County on May 11, 1894. He had been a member of the Presbyterian Church and had belonged to the Masonic Lodge for 40 years serving a term as master. He was also a member of the Consistory and Shrine.

Survivors include his wife, Verna; a son, P.J. Icenbice Jr. of Northridge, Calif.; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
