Memorial services for Kenneth Icenbice were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Deep River Methodist church, conducted by Rev. William Morehouse. Miss Alice Underwood played the musical selections and accompanied William Rempp as he sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Sweet Peace."

Interment was in Golden Rod cemetery under direction of the Steffy Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Quentin Rose, Forrest McLain, Evan Elliott, Marion Ladely, Donald Butcher and Dale McWilliams.

Kenneth Lowell, son of Clint and Ivah Hanawalt Icenbice, was born on a farm 3-1/2 miles east of Deep River Mar. 27, 1921, and died at his home Nov. 1, at the age of 41 years, 7 months, and 5 days.

After attending rural grade school, he graduated from the Deep River high school in the class of 1938. He has been a member of the Deep River Methodist church since 1933. As an active community leader he was a county 4-H committeeman and the first president of the Booster's Club. He served on the school board, assisted with Little League and was active in several other civic, religious and fraternal organizations. His entire life was engaged in farming with his father.

He was a member of the Golden Rod Lodge No. 512, AF&AM, at Deep River, serving as Worshipful Master. A member of the Order of Eastern Star, he served as Worthy Patron for two years. He was raised to 32nd degree in Masonary and was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines.

On Mar. 22, 1941, he was united in marriage with Evelyn Bruns. Their entire married life was spent farming near Deep River. To this union four children were born. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn, and children, Larry, Richard, Alana and Kenneth. Also surviving are his parents; a sister, Mrs. Iona Johnson and family; other relatives and many friends.
