MRS. LUCY CAVANAUGH RITES AT GRINNELL

Requiem Mass was said at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9 for Mrs. Lucy I. Cavanaugh, 77, formerly of Montezuma, the widow of Charles William Cavanaugh, who died Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.

The Mass was said at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Leo V. Kuebrich, pastor of the church, officiating.

Pallbearers were Jim Kearney, Raymond Kelly, Joe Kelly, Robert Wheeler, Jerry Kelly and Pat Kelly.

Burial was in the Calvary section of Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of John and Martha Hotchkin Kelly, Mrs. Cavanaugh was born south of Grinnell on June 15, 1892.

On Nov. 28, 1917 she was married to C. William Cavanaugh in Grinnell by the Rev. M.J. Hannon. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Cavanaugh lived in Waterloo for a time. They came to Grinnell to live for ten years and in 1938 they moved to Montezuma to make their home.

Mr. Cavanaugh died Nov. 23, 1965.

Survivors include a brother, Charles W. Kelly of Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cavanaugh was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, George P. Kelly and John Kelly, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Plum and Mrs. Martin (Martha) Schwab.
