CYNTHIA JOHNSON

Cynthia J. Johnson, 43, of 13 Washington Pl., Grinnell, died of cancer Sunday, June 6, at her home.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Stephan Jasch officiating. Organist was Margaret Amo.

She was the daughter of Harry and Arlene Stender Johnson and was born June 21, 1955, in Maquoketa. She was raised in Wyoming, Iowa, and graduated from Midland Community High School in 1973.

She received a nursing degree from Northeast Iowa Technical Institute and a B.S.N. degree from the University of Dubuque. She had been working on a master's degree from the University of Iowa.

She was the mother of two sons, and the family lived in Davenport, Waterloo and Iowa City before moving to Grinnell in 1996. She was employed as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell and taught Sunday school there.

Surviving are her two sons, Jacob and Joshua, both of the family home; her mother; and three sisters. Carole Hesse of Houston, Texas, Linda Thomsen of Dubuque and Margaret Hudek of Gravois Mills, Mo.
