FUNERAL SERVICES
FOR MRS. DUFFUS

Mrs. Fred Duffus passed away Thursday afternoon of last week, following a short illness. She had appeared to be in the best of health, and it is thought death was caused by gallstones combined with heart failure.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Presbyterian church at Malcom with the Rev. Mr. Peyton in charge. Interment was made in the Malcom cemetery.

The following obituary was read at the funeral:

Myrtle June, the fifth child of Charles E. and Nellie O. Ferneau, was born June 30, 1896, near Montezuma, Iowa, and departed this life near Grinnell, Iowa January 30, 1930, being 33 years and 7 months of age.

On January 12, 1916, she was married to Fred B. Duffus. Four children were born to this union, Mazel Margaret, Harold William, Harry Frederick, and a son who died in infancy.

Myrtle's entire life has been spent in Poweshiek county with the exception on one year at Boone, Iowa, and one year at Stanhope, Iowa.

Mrs. Duffus was a good wife and mother, and will be greatly missed in her home and community. Those left to mourn her death besides her bereaved husband and children are her father and mother, of Gibson, five brothers and two sisters, Levi F., Clifford C., and Harlan T., all of Montezuma, Herman E. of Oskaloosa, Robert L. of New Sharon, Mrs. Bert McKeag of Montezuma, Mrs. Herschel Beck of Pontiac, Mich., and other relatives and friends.
