HELD FRIDAY JAN. 22 AT
STEFFY FUNERAL HOME

The funeral of Miss Jennie Allely, 90, was held Friday, Jan. 22, at the Steffy Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Jacobs in charge. Several selections were sung by Mrs. Keith Stahl accompanied by organist, Miss Alice Underwood.

Burial was in Masonic-IOOF Cemetery with Pearl Poe, Louis Schoales, Carmon Johnson, Robey Watson, Dean Hull and Allen Wheeler serving as casket bearers.

Sarah Jane, (known as Jennie), daughter of George and Margaret Allely, was born on a farm near Preemption, Ill., May 22, 1874, and passed away Jan. 20, at the Mahaska Hospital, Oskaloosa.

In her youth, she moved with her parents to a farm seven miles northeast of Montezuma and in Feb. 1891, the family moved to their present home, one mile north of town. Jennie attended public school and Omaha business school. For 18 years she was secretary for Clark and Clark, a Montezuma law firm.

Jennie served as clerk in the State Legislature for 12 sessions and worked in the state auditors office for six years. She was a court reporter for 12 years.

After the death of her sister, Susie, in 1940, she came home and kept house for her brother. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of the Midway Grange. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

Her survivors include a brother, Edward and several nieces and nephews.
