HELD HERE FOR
JOHN ANTISDEL, 83

Services were held Sunday afternoon at James-Schalinske Funeral Home for John Clark Antisdel, 83, Grinnell, who died Thursday at a local hospital where he had been a patient for nearly two years.

Officiating was the Rev. Roland Wendell. Vocal music was provided by Mrs. Carl Paxon, accompanied by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner at the organ.

Pallbearers were Harvey Harris, Merle Harris, Glen Harris, Harold Tice, Donald Thiel and Warren Ryan. Interment was in Chester cemetery.

The son of Alvin William and Ellen Jane Antisdel, he was born Feb. 22nd, 1879, in a log house at Lanesboro, Minn. The family moved to Iowa in 1880 and settled on a farm near Milford. At that time the country was all prairie land, thinly settled with no railroads or roads and only wagon trails for horses and oxen.

On June 2nd, 1903, he was united in marriage with Blanche Pearl Meek and they established their home in Milford township on a farm where they lived for 51 years. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. R.W. Harris of Grinnell and Mrs. Lola Stelpflug of LeMars.

In 1953 they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at Milford and the following year moved to Grinnell where they had built a new home. They had been members of the Baptist church at Milford and became regular attendants at the First Baptist church here.

Mrs. Antisdel preceded her husband in death five years ago.

Mr. Antisdel was a charter member of the Dickinson county Farm Bureau and continued an active membership in the organization until the time of his death. He was a member of the Gleaming Lodge AF and AM of the Royal Order of Masons at Milford and was active in other community affairs.

He is survived by his two daughters; an older brother, H.N. Antisdel of Milford; an older sister, Mrs. Mae Miller of McAllen, Tex.; two granddaughters, Joy Ann Thiel of Reinbeck and Carol Faye Harris of Grinnell; and two great grandsons, Lawrence Jay Thiel and LeRoy David Thiel of Reinbeck.
