LAST RITES FOR
JIM BUSWELL
HELD MONDAY

Funeral services for James Buswell, lifelong resident of the Grinnell and Malcom communities, were held Monday afternoon from Smith Funeral Home.

The Rev. Leland Mann, pastor of the Congregational church of Grinnell, officiated at the final rites. Mrs. Rhee Auman played organ selections.

Pallbearers were Carl Child, Ross Coutts, Gene Jenkins, John Lewis, Homer Lowrey and Hugh Meacham, with interment at Hazelwood cemetery.

Mr. Buswell died last Friday at a local nursing home following an illness of several years. He had resided at 808 High street.

Born at Malcom on Dec. 13, 1872, he was the son of Henry P. Buswell and Mary Jane Pratt, both deceased. He was married June 5, 1912 at Marshalltown, Iowa, to Nancy Jane Jenkins, who survives. He was 82 years old.

He spent all but four years of his life in Grinnell. He was interested in real estate and for many years was manager of the Grinnell Co-operative Delivery Service.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge until his health failed.

Surviving are his wife Nancy, daughter of the late Beth Jenkins, one time mayor of Grinnell and Sara Jane Jenkins. Also surviving are two nephews, Harry and Arthur Buswell, now residing in California.

At request of the deceased, no floral offerings were displayed.
