OLLIE 'BETTY' COMBS

Ollie E. "Betty" Combs, 80, of Grinnell died of a heart attack Saturday, Dec. 2, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Her body was deeded to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating.

The daughter of Earl C. and Eugenia Ann McKinstry, she was born June 28, 1920, in Bison, S.D. In 1925, the family moved to Spearfish, S.D., and in 1936 she moved with her family to Cresco, where she graduated from high school.

She was married to Dr. Bertrand O. Combs Jan. 1, 1943, in Ames. They lived in several Iowa communities before moving to Grinnell in 1976.

Mrs. Combs was employed as a medical transcriptionist at several hospitals, including Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Pella Hospital and Grinnell Regional Medical Center. She retired in 1982.

She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are one daughter, Sara Donnelinger of Anoka, Minn.; two sons, Kenard of Des Moines and Bernard of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Raymond McKinstry of Rapid City, S.D.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, three brothers and one child in infancy.
