Mrs. Olive M. Loomis was born Jan. 22, 1844 at East Bethany, N.Y. At the age of sixteen she was converted and joined the Methodist church. She was married March 26, 1860, to Lafayette Loomis. To them were born four children, three of whom survive their mother, L.B. Loomis of Grinnell, E.P. Loomis of Beaumont, Texas, and Mrs. J.W. Kester of Grinnell. She leaves also two brothers and two sisters. One brother, L.M. Bartlett of Creston, Iowa, being present at the funeral. She died of pneumonia at the home of daughter, Mrs. J.W. Kester, on Tuesday, March 10, 1903, after a five days' illness. The funeral was conducted from the house at 10 o'clock this morning by the Rev. W.P. Stoddard.
