OSCAR C. HALBLOM

Oscar C. Halblom, 82, of Grinnell died Tuesday, Oct. 22, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lon Lewis officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner, soloist Marty Duffus and trumpeter Bret Crowl. Pallbearers will be Donald Cowell, Larry Cowell, Neal Halblom, Steven Wilke, Ronald Wolfe and Robert Wiseman.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Pella.

He was the son of Victor and Blanche Halblom and was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Jasper County. The family lived in North Dakota, returning to Iowa and settling in Sully where he received his education.

He was married to Ruth Braam Feb. 27, 1940, in Nashua. They farmed for 25 years in Poweshiek and Mahaska counties. In November 1969, they moved to Iowa City, and Mr. Halblom traveled for the American Republic Insurance Co. They returned to Grinnell in 1977.

He was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the Grinnell Elks Lodge. He was also a Cub Scout leader and was honored as an Iowa Master Swine Producer in 1948.

Surviving are his wife; one grandson; a great-grandson; and one sister, Alma Wisgerhof of Ft. Collins, Colo. He was preceded in death by one son, Randall; his parents; one sister, Lillian Griffiths; and two brothers, Robert and Harold.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.
