Geraldine "Jerry" Atkinson, 88, of Monteuzma, died April 4, at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A family interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell at a later date.

Geraldine was born Sept. 25, 1923, near Russell, to Neal and Lillie Wright Kendall. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school.

On May 14, 1949, she was married to Frank D. Atkinson in Exira. The couple lived in Des Moines before moving to Grinnell in 1968. She was employed as a seamstress at the DeLong's Sportswear Company for over 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Eugene (Virginia) Sheets of Glenwood, Barbara (Dennis) Osberg of Spokane, Wash., John Atkinson of Grinnell and James Atkinson of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dayton (Linda) Kendall of Albia.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Dean and Donald Kendall; and one sister, Juanita Miller.
