MR. HARDERS RITES TODAY

Marcus E. Harders, 57, of 95 Fourth Ave. died Wednesday evening at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services for Mr. Harders are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus E. Reitz, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Newton.

The son of Emil and Ida Heath Harders, he was born Oct. 14, 1922, at Wood River, Neb. He attended school in Monmouth, later moving to Newton.

Mr. Harders was employed at the John Deere Co, in Ankeny and later farmed near Murray until 1965. He owned and operated a motel at Greenfield until 1976 when he moved to Montezuma to operate a trucking business. He retired and moved to Grinnell in January of this year.

Survivors include his children, Daniel W. Harders of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Mrs. Russell (Emily Sue) Lett of Council Bluffs, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Martin.

DIES IN GRINNELL

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell for Marcus (Curly) Harders, 57, who died November 14 of an apparent heart condition at his home in Grinnell.

The Rev. Marcus Reitz, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiated and burial was in Union cemetery in Newton.

The son of Emil and Ida Harders, he was born October 14, 1922, in Wood River, Neb. He moved to Montezuma from Greenfield in 1976. He owned and operated a trucking business here for two years and retired to Grinnell last January.

He is survived by a son, Daniel Harders o San Luis Obispo, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Sue) Lett, of Council Bluffs, and four grandchildren.
