JEWELL HAWK

Jewell Hawk, 84, of Grinnell died Monday, June 26, at St. Francis Manor.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Molsberry, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

The daughter of William Ralph and Minnie Nichol Rutherford, she was born Oct. 30, 1910, in Grinnell. She was a 1928 of Grinnell High School, attended Grinnell College for one year and graduated from Iowa State University in 1932.

Following her education she taught school at Milford for five years. From 1938 to 1942 she taught home economics at Grinnell High School.

On July 27, 1940, she was married to Rupert Hawk in Chicago. They lived in Grinnell where she worked for Grinnell College as manager of Grinnell House and the Forum. Her husband was former superintendent of schools in Grinnell.

Mrs. Hawk was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, PEO and the Magoun Club.

There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Donald Rutherford.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Francis Manor.
