ROBERT STOUT
DIES SUDDENLY

Requiem Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell for Robert W. Stout, 45, of 415 12th Ave., who died suddenly early New Year's Day.

The Rev. Leo V. Kuebrich, pastor of the church, officiated at the rites. Mrs. John J. Allen was organist.

Pallbearers were John J. Allen, Kevin J. Griffin, C.A. Hand, John L. Hotchkin, Michael J. Hotchkin and Cliff J. Mielak.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kan., on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

The Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home.

The son of Paul Hershel and Mary Edna Farley Stout, Mr. Stout was born July 26, 1924 at Oklahoma City, Okla. He graduated from Enid, Okla. High School.

Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 as a rifleman, serving with the Marines as corporal on Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands and the occupation of Japan. He was discharged in 1946 and attended Hutchinson, Kan. Junior College.

On Aug. 26, 1947, he married Shirley Therese Hazelton at Hutchinson. To this union were born three daughters--Mrs. Roberta Ann Reimer, Lynda Sue Stout and Mary Lucille Stout, all of Grinnell.

Mr. and Mrs. Stout lived in Omaha for a brief period before moving to Enid, Okla., where they lived for ten years. As a representative of the Carey Salt Co., he and his family moved to Grinnell, in 1963.

Mr. Stout was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1266, Focht-Tennant Post No. 53 of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

For the past three years, Mr. Stout had been a salesman for Wholesale Feeds, Inc. of Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his three daughters; a three-year-old granddaughter, Therese Ann Reimer; one brother, James F. Stout of Topeka, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Leonard (Hannah Lou) Young of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Mr. Stout was preceded in death by his parents.
