GRACE ARMENT

Grace G. Arment, 86, of Friendship Manor died Friday, Dec. 6, at the manor.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond C. Lott, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler.

Pallbearers were Charles, Duane and Raymond Arment, Keith Bailey, James Hanus Jr., Richard Snook and Jerry and Jim Wood. Honorary bearers were Brent, Craig, Jason and Ken Arment, Brenda Friesner, Todd Garbison, Kelley Hart, Jodi Johnson, Francis Thompson and Charles, Lyle and Roy Thurman. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Earl Eugene and Mildred M. Wood, she was born March 13, 1905, in Washington Township. She attended rural school. On Aug. 20, 1924, she was married to Francis M. Arment at her family home. They farmed in Poweshiek County until 1938, then moved to Grinnell.

Mrs. Arment worked at the former Community Hospital and the United Church of Christ-Congregational. She also cared for patients in their homes. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Clarence of Mesa, Ariz., and Harold of Mason City; two daughters, Doris Gray and Lucile Garbison, both of Mesa; two sisters, Verna Arment of Fort Collins, Colo., and Blanche Arment of Grinnell; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
