MRS. MABLE JACOBS
PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Mable Jacobs of 1020 Chatterton street, passed away Sunday morning following an operation Saturday evening. She never regained consciousness. She was aged 56 years. Surviving relatives are a son, Lewis E. and a daughter, Edna Marie Jacobs, both of Grinnell. Funeral services conducted by Rev. A.B. Cadwell are being held this afternoon starting at 2:30 o'clock from the Methodist church. Interment will be at Hazelwood cemetery.

Mabel Colestine Burr was born Oct. 23, 1876, at Council Bluffs, Iowa, and passed away May 17, 1931, aged 55 years, 6 months, 17 days. She was the only child of R.E. and Ida C. Burr, both of whom died when she was a small child leaving her without the parental home and influence. She made her home with various relatives until her marriage to L.E. Jacobs of this city, Oct. 12, 1910.

A few happy years were spent in a Christian home on north Summer street which the groom had prepared for them. The husband passed into the other life 15 years ago and since then the mother had made a home for the two children, Lewis E. and Edna May, aged 19 and 15 respectively.

Mrs. Jacobs united with the Methodist Episcopal church at an early age. She was a devoted Christian, ever striving to maintain the teachings of the Bible and to inculcate them in the lives of her children.

Mrs. Jacobs has been in poor health since the death of her husband. During all these years of adversities she has striven to maintain her hope and courage to the very last. She was unable to regain consciousness after an operation Saturday evening and passed away at 4:20 Sunday morning.

Those surviving are the son, Lewis E. and the daughter, Edna May. Near relatives are the family of G.W. Slater and relatives of the deceased husband.

Funeral services held at the Methodist church Tuesday, May 19, at 2:30, the pastor, Rev. A.B. Cadwell, officiating.

Mrs. Roscoe Dempster and Mrs. A.B. Cadwell sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
