RITES HELD THIS
AFTERNOON FOR
MILTON O. STANLEY

Funeral services for Milton Otto Stanley of 708 Fifth Ave. were held at the Smith Funeral Home this afternoon (Thursday) with Rev. E.E. Beattie of the Malcom Presbyterian church officiating.

Stanley passed away in a Cedar Rapids hospital after an illness of one week. He and his wife had been visiting in the home of their daughter in Cedar Rapids.

Burial was made in Hazelwood Cemetery with Myles Olson, Bill French, John Peak, Eugene Holley, Martin Pearce and George Lincoln serving as pallbearers. Music was furnished by Mrs. Maynard Long, Mrs. Ernest Strauss, Martin Pearce, and Eugene Holley with Mrs. Eugene Holley playing the organ.

Stanley was the son of Byron and Nancy Stanley and was born July 28, 1881 in Powersville, Mo. He was 77 years old. On Sept. 1, 1915, he was married to Edna Rose Morley at Yorktown, Iowa.

To this union were born two children: Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Gorsuch of Cedar Rapids and Eugene Robert Stanley, who was killed in the battle of the Java Sea in 1942.

Also surviving are three grandchildren and one sister, Miss Lola Stanley of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Stanley moved to Grinnell 33 years ago from Colfax and worked as a barber here for many years. He was an Elder of the United Presbyterian church.
