Rev. Frank Jacobs conducted memorial services for Claude Adams at 2 p.m. July 17 at the First Christian church. Miss Alice Underwood played the musical selections and accompanied Betty Acord and Suzanne Trinkle as they sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Interment was in the family lot in Jackson township cemetery under direction of the Steffy Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Lazell, Ray, Lavern and Cecil Vandeventer, Don and Dwight Purdum.

Claude Lawrence Adams, son of John and Ella Adams, was born July 24, 1888, at Exline, Iowa, and died July 12 at Sterling, Colo., at 76 years of age.

He was united in marriage with Myrtle Purdum Nov. 5, 1910, and to this union four sons were born. The surviving sons are Melvin P. Adams, Greeley, Colo., Carl W. Adams, Norwalk, Calif., and Forest B. Adams, Kimball, Nebr. He has six grandchildren, a great granddaughter, a niece, his wife, other relatives and many friends.

They farmed at Exline, Montezuma and Newton until moving to Goodland, Kans., in 1923 to go into ranching and wheat farming with the late Tom Waters of Grinnell. He moved on to Sterling in '25 and ranched until developing a gravel business, later he had a fruit market and went into other businesses with his sons later, retiring in 1955. He had been in ill health for sometime prior to his death.
