IVYL BOWEN

Ivyl Bowen, 86, of Marshalltown, formerly of Grinnell, died Monday, Oct. 18, at Villa Del Sol Nursing Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, with the Rev. Tom Bower officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, with the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home of Marshalltown officiating.

Memorials may be made to the United Way or the First Presbyterian Church of Marshalltown.

The daughter of Frank and Henrietta Mueller Psenicka, she was born Nov. 22, 1907, in Centerville. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1925 graduate of Grinnell High School. She had worked as a secretary at Iowa Southern Utilities Co. and for several Grinnell insurance companies, retiring in 1962.

She was married to Gaylord Bowen May 6, 1933 in Newton.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Richard of Camdenton, Mo.; one daughter, Beverly Schwartz of Wheeling, Ill.; four sisters, Frances Fairall, Junetta Mulstay and Arlene Barrs, all of Marshalltown, and Vonda Jolley of Newton; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters.
