RITES FOR HAROLD HICKS HELD HERE

Services for Harold V. Hicks were conducted by the Rev. John Darlington Thursday afternoon, March 8, at the Steffy Funeral Home. Mrs. Edward Snook was the soloist at the rites. She was accompanied by organist Miss Alice Underwood.

Casket bearers were Gary Pagel, Marvin Davis, Wesley Smich, Gerald Ochs, Stanley Ochs and David Baltimore. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery.

Mr. Hicks, 58, died at his home here Monday, March 5.

The son of Aily and Pansy Workman Hicks, he was born in Poweshiek County on Oct. 29, 1920. He attended rural schools. On Nov. 1, 1939, he was married to Irene Martin of Deep River. He engaged in farming and sheep shearing until 1969 and then did carpentry and construction work until 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; a son, Gary of Montezuma; five daughters, Mrs. Duane (Darlene) Steele of Joplin, Mo., Mrs. Charles (Doris) Woodrum of Montezuma, Mrs. Sheldon (Donna) Gregson of Victor, Mrs. James (Vicki) Zigler of Brooklyn and Mrs. Gary (Diana) Bru of Trenton, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; a great-grandson; four sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Leona) Ochs of Deep River, Mrs. Harlan (Maxine) Johannes of Montezuma, Mrs. Clyde (June) Eckhart of Battle Creek, Mich. and Mrs. Madlyn Scott of Burlington; and a brother, Lloyd Covault, of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Howard.
