May 27, 1982MABEL EVANS DIES TUESDAY;
SERVICE SET FOR FRIDAYFuneral services for Mabel N. Evans, Rt. 2, Searsboro, who died Tuesday evening, May 25, at Grinnell General Hospital, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Irene Wellert, pastor of the Friends Church of Searsboro, officiating. Organist will be Donn Mackerman. Pallbearers will be Mike Beaderstadt, Matt Beaderstadt, Mike Evans, Steve Evans, Kevin Modlin and Tim Hoffman. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Searsboro. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home.
The daughter of Edward and Carrie Nicholiason Larsen, she was born Dec. 2, 1906, near Grinnell. She attended Grinnell schools and later graduated from Grinnell High School. On Aug. 2, 1928, she was married to Leo "Buck" Evans, in Poweshiek County. Mr. and Mrs. Evans lived at Searsboro, Grinnell and Montezuma and later moved to Eldorado, Ill. They returned to Searsboro in 1947 to farm. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Grinnell American Legion Auxiliary and had worked as a volunteer at the Iowa Veterans Home at Knoxville. She also was a Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge of Searsboro.
She is survived by her children: Delmar N. Evans, Newton; Mrs. Kenneth (Leona M.) Beaderstadt, Newton; James L. Evans, rural Searsboro, and George L. Evans, Newton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters: Ludwig Larsen, Newton., Mrs. Olga Carpenter, Mount Carmel, Ill.; Mrs. Agnes Snodgrass, Santa Monica, Calif.; Edna Felper, Albion and Gladys Cormicle, Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, George and Elmer Larsen; and her sister, Amelia Kaisand.
