Barbara A. Lemke, 60, of Grinnell died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
A celebration of life open house will be held Saturday, July 10, beginning at 12 noon at the Bryan Lemke residence, 717 Pearl Street, Grinnell. All are welcome to come and share memories of Barbara Lemke.
Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Home Health Service. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 9, 1949, in Centerville to Martin and Lillian Garr Halterman. She was raised in Newton, attending Newton public schools. On Aug. 14. 1965, she was united in marriage with Larry Lemke in Lancaster, Mo. They resided in Newton and Grinnell where she was employed in a variety of positions.
She is survived by her husband Larry Lemke of Grinnell; two sons, Bryan Lemke of Grinnell and Quinton Lemke of Rock Creek Lake; one daughter, Teresa Yepez of Grinnell; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers, Leonard Halterman of Newton and Wilbur Halterman of Marshalltown and two sisters, Donna Morton and Wilma Lafond, both of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marilyn Halterman, and a granddaughter.
