RITES HELD FOR
MR. ANDERSON

Arthur J. Anderson, 78, of 817 Elm St., Grinnell, died Thursday morning, April 27 at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton, following an extended illness.

The son of Gustav and Ingrid Swanson Anderson, he was born July 26, 1893, at Hiteman, Iowa. He was married to Margaret Doughman and following their marriage the couple moved to Grinnell. He had been a patient at the nursing home for the past few years.

Mr. Anderson was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the American Lutheran Church Men. He was a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by two sisters, Mildred Sharer of Gary, Ind. and Edith Robin of Chicago, Ill.; and two brothers, Henry Anderson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Carl Anderson of Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret July 3, 1971, his parents, and two brothers.

Funeral services for Mr. Anderson were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marcus E. Reitz, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Amo, and pallbearers included Myron Heneke, Lawrence Pedersen, Leon Mahlstedt, Dennis Lammert, John Ruchotzke, and Robert Anderson.

Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery at Bussey, Iowa, the James-Schalinske Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
