MAE A. GREGORY

Mae A. Gregory, 95, of Montezuma died April 4. Services were April 8, at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department or the Grinnell Regional Hospice.

Mae was born Aug. 27, 1917 in Poweshiek County to Allen and Edith (Baird) Jordan. She attended country school in Montezuma High School.

She was married to Oral Gregory Dec. 30, 1933. At the age of 27, she became a single mother left to raise their six children. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and her family was the light of her life.

Mae worked in food service in Montezuma and for 25 years at Bishops Buffet at Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines before retirement.

She is survived by her children, Betty Ellis of Grinnell, Vera "Greg" Lull of Johnston, Norma (Don) Van Ersvelde of Deep River, Bill (Marla) Gregory of Montezuma and Jan Kahue of Sacramento, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Edith Jordan; her brother, Clarence Jordan; two sisters, Pauline Hutchinson and Alice Hockey; her son, Russell Gregory and grandsons, Carl Gregory and Danny Van Ersvelde.
