RAYMOND GREGORY, 77

Raymond William Gregory, 77, of Marshalltown, and formerly of Montezuma, died Sunday Oct. 21, 2001 at his home in Marshalltown. He was born Aug. 15 1924, in Grinnell, the son of William and Thula Cummins Gregory. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1942. He served in the Navy during WWII. He farmed east of Montezuma, and had worked at Maytag in Newton for 17 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montezuma, a 50-year Mason with the Lafayette Lodge No. 52 AF & AM at Montezuma, and the V.F.W. Post #8876 in Montezuma.

He is survived by one daughter: Cyndy (and Dale) Crider of Wilmette, Ill.; five sons: Michael Gregory of Des Moines, Tom (and Deb) Gregory of Montezuma, Fred (and Sue) Gregory of Buffalo, New York, Chris Gregory of Montezuma, and Jeff Gregory of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Johnson of Montezuma, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Claire and Oral Gregory.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma with Rev. Burr Bryant officiating. Burial was in the Masonic IOOF Cemetery in Montezuma with graveside military rites given by members of the Blakley-Stevens Legion Post #169 of Montezuma.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
