RUSSELL F. GREGORY, 64

Russell Floyd Gregory, 64, of Montezuma, died in his home Saturday, Sept. 7, of natural causes.

The funeral service for Russell was Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Watts Funeral Home with the Rev. Burr Bryant officiating. Interment followed at Jackson Township Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Allen Gregory, David Gregory, Jim Chapman, Richard Ellis, John Jordan, and Kenneth Schultz.

Honorary casket bearers were Sonny Shearer and Bud Baird.

Russell was born April 11, 1938, at Montezuma, the son of Oral and Mae A. (Jordan) Gregory. He was united in marriage with Marvy Van Mill July 27, 1957, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, and two daughters and one son were born. Russell was a barber at Denver and Audubon, Iowa, and Des Moines; did upholstery work; and since 1988, has lived with his mother in Montezuma.

Russell is survived by his two daughters and their families, Sharen (and Jim) Miller of Portland, Ore., and grandchildren Bradley, Crystal and Denae; and Barbara (and Robert) Siemens of Cedar Falls and grandchildren Kain Gregory and Luke Gregory; his mother, Mae Gregory of Montezuma; four sisters, Betty Ellis of Garner, Vera (and Dean) Lull of Des Moines, Norma (and Don) Van Ersvelde of Deep River; and Janice Kahue of Sacramento, Calif.; and one brother, Bill (and Marla) Gregory of Montezuma.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marvy; his son, Carl; and his father, Oral.

A memorial has been established in Russell's name for the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
