---Three weeks ago, M.S. Kendall had to give up his position with the James A. Gest Piano Co. of Burlington and came home for medical treatment. The disease had secured too firm a hold on him, however, and he passed away at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, of typhoid pneumonia. The funeral will be conducted from the Congregational Church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon by the Rev. E.M. Vittum. The body will be taken to the church at 1 o'clock and the friends who so desire are invited to view the remains between the hours of 1 and 2.

SIMON MANLY KENDALL

Simon Manly Kendall was born in Grinnell Jan. 28, 1879. He was the youngest of eight brothers all of whom with the exception of one survive him. He also leaves a mother and sister and a large circle of relatives and near and dear friends to mourn their loss. He attended the public schools of Grinnell and also studied music in the Conservatory of Music in Iowa College for two years. He was a natural musician and music was his delight. Three years ago he was engaged by the Guest Piano Co. of Burlington with whom he stayed until three weeks before his death which occurred the 23rd of July 1903. He had been in poor health for months before his death but did not give up until compelled to do so. He suffered much in his last illness and it was a relief to his friends when death came and gave him rest. Manly was of a very affectionate nature, and his nearest and dearest friends who knew him best are stricken with grief. But they look forward to the time when they shall meet him in the sweet bye and bye where partings are no more.

CARD OF THANKS.

For the friends who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and death of our dearly beloved son and brother, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks.
MRS. S.F. KENDALL
DAUGHTER AND SONS.
