CLARA BERTHA PETERSON

Clara Bertha Peterson, 87, of rural Montezuma, died Jan. 12, 1989 at Friendship Manor in Grinnell.

The daughter of John and Irma Herbrandt Lacaeyse, she was born Aug. 31, 1901, at Moline, Ill. She was baptized in the Catholic faith. On July 17, 1919, she was married to Elmer Peterson. She has lived on the same farm for the past 70 years.

She is survived by two daughters: Vera Urfer and her husband, Elmer, of Malcom, and Bette Allen of Montezuma; one son Melvin Peterson of Montezuma; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two sisters: Mary Noble and Margaret Akery both of Brooklyn and other relatives.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer, on May 8, 1958; three brothers: Fred Lacaeyse, Albert Lacaeyse and August Lacaeyse; a daughter-in-law, Edythe Peterson and a son-in-law, Ronald Allen.

Services were Saturday, Jan. 14, at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, with Rev. Thomas Pickles officiating.

Casket Bearers were Randall Peterson, Sam Urfer, Ron Urfer, John Allen, Don Urfer, and Jim Urfer. Interment was at Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.
