DONALD ERQUIST

Donald A. Erquist, 60, of Montezuma died Friday, Dec. 15, 1995 from injuries he received in a two car auto accident north of Montezuma.

The son of Fredrick Alfred and Helga Marie (Olson) Erquist, he was born August 6, 1935 at Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines. He served his country in the Marine Corps. On June 7, 1957 he was united in marriage with Barbara Peterson at Des Moines. To this union two children were born. He graduated from the Iowa School of Barber in Des Moines. They moved to Montezuma in 1960, where Don served his apprenticeship. He was a Mason and member of Lafayette Lodge No. 52 A.F. & A.M., a Shriner and a member of the Blakley-Stevens Legion Post No. 169. Don was a friend to many in his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son and a brother, John.

Don is survived by his wife, Barb, a son, Kevin of Waterloo, IA, a daughter, Ann Erquist of LeGrand, IA, and five sisters: Elvera Westergaard of Des Moines, Evelyn Mingus of Hemet, CA, Margaret Miller of Long Beach, CA, Helen Morgan of Prescott, AZ, and Dorothy Roth of Blue Springs, MO, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 18, from watts Funeral Home, Montezuma. Rev. George Salnave of the First Presbyterian Church, Montezuma, officiated. Mrs. Kathleen Ramsey was organist and Mrs. Rhonda Minner, soloist. Selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "He Grew The Tree." Casket Bearers were Lyle Berry, Bill Bushong, Dick Bowers, Kenneth Maschmann, Wayne Tindle and Jim Bazyn.

Members of the Lafayette Lodge No. 52 A.F. & A.M. Montezuma had charge of the Masonic services. Flag folding was by members of Blakley-Stevens Legion Post No. 169.

Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or Montezuma Vol. Fire Dept.
