Funeral services for Jerry C. Sternberg, 61, of Brooklyn, will be held April 23 in the Billman-Hunt Funeral Chapel, Minneapolis, Minn. Sternberg died Saturday night in the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling Cemetery. The Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Jerry Conrad Sternberg, son of Fred and Fannie Greene Sternberg, was born April 21, 1924, in Woodbine. He received his education in Woodbine and Carson. Sternberg served with the U.S. Navy Oct. 14, 1943 to Dec. 17, 1946 and from Oct. 4, 1956 to Feb.10, 1964. He was a retired Postal employee of the Minneapolis Post Office.

He was united in marriage to Audrey Jean Jansen Munkelwitz Feb. 3, 1968, in Salem, S.D. They moved from Minneapolis in 1978, lived in Cedar Rapids from 1981 to 1984, moving to Brooklyn one and one half years ago.

Sternberg was a member of Amvets and Fleet Reserves of Cedar Rapids and American Legion Post #53 of Grinnell.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; his parents, Fred and Fannie Sternberg of Oakland; four sons, Earl Munkelwitz of Wyoming, Minn., David Sternberg of Brooklyn, Guy and Glenn Munkelwitz of Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters, Arlene, Mrs. Delbert Milton, Sr., of Brooklyn, Miss Betty Munkelwitz of Brooklyn, and Miss Carol Munkelwitz of Dallas Center; one brother, Donald Sternberg of Carson, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, J.C. Sternberg.
