MRS. AHRENS
DIES AT 70

Mildred B. Ahrens, 70, of Friendship Manor died Saturday evening at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services for Mildred B. Ahrens were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Grover Branson, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Grinnell, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Barbara Lien.

Pallbearers were Al Ahrens, Virgil Doud, Kevin Griffin, Virgil Jones, Donald Louden and Albert Neighbors. Burial was in the Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Born Feb. 20, 1910, in Grinnell, she was the daughter of Edward M. and Josephine N. Curtis Jones. She attended Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell High.

She lived in Grinnell all her life. She was employed as a secretary for Poweshiek Mutual Insurance Association for a number of years and for 28 years was employed as executive secretary for the former Iowa Telephone and Telegraph Co. and General Telephone Co. She retired in 1975.

She had made her home at Friendship Manor since 1978.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clifford Jones and an infant; and a sister, Mrs. John (Rena) Hoffstatter.

She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Donald (Allene) O'Roake of Newton; and a nephew, Kenneth D. Jones of Columbia, Mo.
