Mary Jean Esler Davie, 73, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., a native of Grinnell, died of pneumonia Thursday, Feb. 1, at U.C.L.A. Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was the daughter of William H. and Gladys Margaret Fowler Esler and was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Grinnell. She was a graduate of Newburg High School and attended business college for two years.
She was married to Robert LeRoy Davie in May 1943 at Yuma, Ariz. She was a court reporter for the state of California for 28 years.
Surviving are one daughter, Gayle Jean Smith of Seal Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Iske of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
