MRS. LARS FROILAND

Olava Bergete Erlandsdal was born near Stavanger, Norway, Oct. 5, 1887, where she resided until May 26, 1910 when on this date she left home, friends and relatives and started on that long journey to the United States of America, arriving in Grinnell, Iowa, June 10, 1910.

On the 4th day of July. 1914, she was united in marriage to Mr. Lars Froiland, at the home of Mr. Froiland's cousin, Ole Thorson, of Marshalltown, Iowa.

Since that time, Mr. and Mrs. Froiland have lived in Grinnell, Mr. Froiland being employed at the Watland Lumber Yards, which position he has filled for the past five years.

Shortly after marriage the young husband and wife purchased the property on the corner of 4th Ave. and Center street, where they began building a home which promised to be one of our many real happy American homes. Mrs. Froiland often voicing her satisfaction and happiness in her new home life.

Until in May, 1913, Mrs. Froiland enjoyed the best of health, when at this time she was taken with a very severe attack of rheumatism, being confined at the City Hosptial for a while and afrer a few months she seemed to have entirely recovered, but was left so doctors said, with a weakened heart, but seemed to suffer no ill-effects from this until last fall and winter when she did not seem to be in her usual health although at this time nothing serious was anticipated.

In early April of this spring she was confined to her bed under the doctors care with what is called "leakage of the heart" but from this she recovered sufficiently to be up and around and attending to part of her home duties.

Last Monday she was again taken sick and on Tuesday night following was much worse, and from this attack she never rallied.

Everything that a devoted husband, medical skill and experienced nursing could do was done but at 8:45 o'clock Saturday night she answered the last summons and passed into the next life without a struggle or pain, at the age of 28 years, 7 months and 20 days.

Our departed sister leaves to mourn her untimely death, a loving husband, who resides here and at her home in Norway, a father, mother, six sisters and one brother.

Because of the great distance none of the relatives could be with her in her last illness nor with the bereaved husband in this last sad rite.

Besides the husband and relatives our departed sister leaves friends to the number of all who knew her.

She was possessed of a true, sterling, Christian character and a loyalty to friends and duty which always compels love and respect from both family and friends.

The departed received her education in the grade schools at her home. She was confirmed in the Strand Lutheran church in her early girlhood and was an active worker in this church until she came to America and has since been a member of the Grinnell Lutheran church.

Always of a quiet unassuming disposition she lived her life with that sincere purpose which only those can know who know their Savior.

In the last hours knowing that there was no hope of her recovery she was fully resigned to the will of her Master and was anxiously waiting the summons to meet Him face to face.

Funeral was held today from the Lutheran church and the remains were laid to rest in the Grinnell cemetery.
