Debra Kay Reitzler, 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Reitzler, Rte. 1, Malcom, died at 2:27 a.m. Friday in Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, of a brain tumor.

The daughter of Merle and Audrey Shimp Reitzler, Debra was born in Marshalltown on Aug. 30, 1963. She and her family later moved to Malcom. She was a student in the fourth grade of BGM.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Brooklyn.

Debra is survived by her parents; two sisters, Diane and Darla; two brothers, Chuck and Denny; her paternal grandfather, John Reitzler of Grinnell; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shimp of Grinnell; paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Kate Reitzler of Deep River; and maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Junkin of Fairfield and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shimp of Chariton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Mrs. John (Anna) Reitzler; paternal great-grandfather, Joe Reitzler; and paternal great-grandparetns, Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Crider.

A Mass of the Angels was held at 10 a.m. Monday (Nov. 5) in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Fr. Patrick McCoy, pastor officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. A Parish rosary was held at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn.
