FUNERAL WEDNESDAY
FOR FRED CRIDER

Last rites for Fred Crider, 83, a longtime resident of this community, were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramer's funeral home in charge of the Rev. G.H. Hulsebus, minister of First United Presbyterian church. Mrs. Ed Bartachek was organist.

Burial was in the Brooklyn I.O.O.F. cemetery with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers: Maynard Reitzler, Merle Reitzler, Wallace King, Richard King and James Reitzler. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Purdum were flower attendants.

Fred Lee Crider, son of Godfrey and Mary Frances Crider, was born March 8, 1879, in Lincoln township, Poweshiek county, and died Dec. 9, 1962, at St. Francis hospital in Grinnell where he had been a patient for three weeks. He had been in poor health for the past month.

Mr. Crider grew up in the rural community and attended schools in Lincoln township. In early life he was baptized in the Moravian church in Lincoln township. He was a member of the K.P. lodge of Brooklyn and the Modern Woodmen of America.

On February 10, 1903, he was married to Nettie Grace Nussbaum and three daughters were born to the couple. With the exception of three years in Kansas, the family always lived in Poweshiek county. Mr. Crider retired from farming following the death of his wife in November, 1945.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Anna) Reitzler of Malcom and Mrs. Lester (Edna) King of Brooklyn. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bert Crider of Manchester, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Courtright of San Francisco, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Lois) Reitzler in 1954; seven brothers and two sisters.
