DELMAR L. MILLIGAN SR., 77

Delmar L. Milligan, Sr. 77, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in his home.

A visitation was held at Messinger Funeral Home in Fountain Hills, Ariz., on Friday evening, Oct. 3. His funeral service was held on Oct. 4, at Palmcroft Baptist Church in Phoenix.

Delmar Leslie Milligan was born in a farm home approximately seven miles west of Grinnell, on Sept. 3, 1931, the son of McKinley and Elsie (Wertz) Milligan. In 1951, he graduated from Montezuma High School and entered the Air Force, where he served as a fuel transport driver. Delmar served in Korea and Vietnam, and retired as a sergeant after serving 20 years in the United States Air Force.

Delmar is survived by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn, a son, Delmar Jr. (Doreen) Milligan of Vista, Calif., and a daughter, Susan Milligan of Scottsdale, Ariz. He is also survived by a sister, Mildred Peterson of Anamosa, and two brothers, George (Marlene) Milligan) of Cedar Rapids, and Doyle Milligan of Oskaloosa. Also surviving are his grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Evelyn Irene.
