ALFRED BURROUGHS
FUNERAL IS HELDFuneral services for Alfred Burroughs, pioneer resident of Grinnell, were held from the home, 1133 West street, Thursday afternoon and were largely attended. Rev. Robert Inglis and Rev. E.M. Vittum conducted the services and appropriate violin music was provide by Mrs. E.D. Strong, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Margery Bouma. Mrs. Strong played "Coming Home" at the request of Mr. Burroughs' daughter, Mrs. Dunn. Dr. Vittum gave personal reminiscences of Mr. Burroughs.
Pall bearers were five nephews, Richard Burroughs of Gilman, Edward Newcomer of Newburg, L.V. Stoaks of Grinnell, Dr. E.L. Dunn of Chicago and Hale Adams of Galesburg, Ill., and Wilford Smiley.
Present from out of town were Mr. Burroughs' son George of Oakland, Calif., his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Thomas Burroughs of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Hale Adams of Galesburg, Ill., and Dr. E.L. Dunn and Mrs. Pearl Bartlett of Chicago.
