Raymond William Catherman, 84, of Montezuma died Sept. 7 of a heart attack preceding a car accident southwest of Montezuma.
He was born June 22, 1906 on a farm eight miles north of Brooklyn, the son of Hiram Addison and Emmaline Croskrey Catherman. He farmed most of his life in Poweshiek county. He married Scelora Wilder and she passed away May 10, 1976. On Feb. 24, 1978 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Jager. She passed away March 28, 1988. He was a member of the Methodist Church and attended Faith Christian Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, three sisters: Genevive, Goldie and Louise Ogren, and one brother, Woodrow.
Ray is survived by stepchildren Norman Wilder, Linda Hopwood and Robert, Richard and Leon Jager; four brothers, Trevlin of Oskaloosa, Arthur of Tama, Thaine of Oakland, Calif. and Allison of Hayward, Calif., and other relatives and friends.
Services were held Sept. 10 at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma, with Paul Septer officiating.
Casketbearers were Russ Talbert, Homer Gerard, Allen Wheeler, Lester Thompson and Dennis Broadston with interment in Kent Chapel cemetery north of Brooklyn.
