DEAN W. SHORE JR.

Dean William Shore Jr., 38, of Des Moines died Wednesday, Sept. 15, of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with Maj. Lynn Williams, chaplain of the 734th Maintenance Battalion, and the Rev. Judy Wadding officiating. Burial was in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. The Wallace-Pence Funeral Home of Newton was in charge of arrangements.

He was the son of Dean W. and Letitia K. Shore of Newton and was born Sept. 15, 1961, in Aurora, Colo. He was a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School. He had lived in Des Moines, Germany, Maryland and Texas and was a U.S. Army staff sergeant.

He was a member of the Emmanual Baptist Church of Des Moines, the Grinnell Tae Kwon Do Club, the Iowa Black Belt Association and the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Union.

At the time of his death, he was assigned to the Iowa Army National Guard Detachment 1 Maintenance Company.

Surviving are two daughters, Rheannan and Jacquelyn, both of Grinnell; his parents, both of Newton; two sisters, Terri Jo Sutton of Grinnell and Lisa Colby of Des Moines; and one brother, Craig of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leon and Maude Shore and William and Mabel Williams.
