JOANN LATTING

JoAnn M. Latting, 68, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was scheduled for Monday, Dec. 19, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Nick Adam, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell, officiating. Pianist was William Tinker. Casket bearers were Sam Barrett, Tony Butz, James Hosek, Randy Hosek, Cam Konicek, Zachary Latting, Rustal Martin and Gary McKenna. Interment was at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Memorials may be directed to the JoAnn Latting Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Ome, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

JoAnn was born on Sept. 15, 1943, in Toledo, to Joseph and Anna Dalecky Hosek, She was raised on a farm near Clutier and graduated from Toledo High School.

On May 22, 1965, she married Robert Latting at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Clutier. The couple resided in California and Washington state before moving to Ames. In 1969, they moved to Grinnell. Besides being a mother and homemaker she worked as a seamstress for DeLong's Sportswear Company and the Rock Creek Athletic Company in Grinnell.

JoAnn enjoyed sewing, crafts and baking. She adored her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Latting of Grinnell; two daughters, Terri Kane of Hinsdale, Ill., and Traci Corley of Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, Tim Latting of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren; one sister, Marlys Butz of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, Richard Hosek of Vining.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
