MILDRED MARGARET MOYER

Mildred M. Moyer, 94, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell with Rev. Ron Hodges, pastor of the church, officiating. Music will be provided by Marilyn Kriegel, organist and St. Mary's Choir. Casket Bearers will be Jeremy Moyer, Lisa Farmer, James Moyer, Michele Goldsmith, Arron Moyer, Brandon Moyer and Derek Moyer. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

A scripture service will be held 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell and the family will be present at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church or to St. Francis Manor.

Mildred was born on Tuesday, May 27, 1919, on the family farm in Madison Township near Brooklyn, Iowa to George and Margaret Kriegel Cline. She was raised on the family farm and attended a rural school near her home. Following her education, she moved to Grinnell and worked for Swift and Company.

On September 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to James Moyer and they were the parents of four sons, Lyle, Michael, Steven and Dennis. The couple farmed near Malcom and later moved to a farm north of Brooklyn. She was a homemaker, mother and assisted with the farm operation. In 1983, Mildred and James retired and moved to Grinnell.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn and she became a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church when they moved to Grinnell. She also served as a member of the Grinnell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include four sons, Lyle (Jane) Moyer of Plano, Texas, Michael (Jeannette) Moyer of Ottumwa, Iowa, Steven (Melissa) Moyer of Meguon, Wisconsin and Dennis (Dorsha) Moyer of Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Cline of Brooklyn; and two sisters, Evelyn Wiley of Grinnell and Bernadette Cline of Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers, Joseph, Harold, Darold, Francis, Manus and Leonard Cline; and one sister, Dorothy Cline.
