MILDRED MOYER

Mildred B. Moyer, 93, of 708 Elm St., Grinnell, died at her home Tuesday, March 30.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Anthony G. Farrell officiating. Music will be by St. Mary's Choir and organist Marilyn Kriegel.

Pallbearers will be Jason Gilliland, Greg Lincoln, Gerald Moyer, Scott Moyer, Tom Moyer and Kevin Schmidt. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was the daughter of Charles and Julia Schaller Strong and was born June 30, 1899, in Tama. She attended Tama High School.

On June 8, 1918, she was married to John J. Moyer in Tama. The couple farmed in Tama and Poweshiek counties before moving to Grinnell in 1943. Mrs. Moyer worked in the laundry departments of St. Francis Hospital and the Grinnell College Health Center.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.

Surviving are seven sons, James, Francis, Allan, Harold and Roger, all of Grinnell, Robert of Dubuque and Dean of Fairmont, Neb.; five daughters, Arlene Pierce and Maxine Osborn, both of Montezuma, Karol Gilliland of Marshalltown, Mary Schmidt of Grinnell and Joyce Lincoln of Stuart; 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gail Thompson of Wenatchee, Wash.; and one brother, Charles Strong of Luzerne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, John Jr.; one grandson; one great-grandson; three sisters, Donna Hoggott, Gladys Anderson and Maxine Brannia; and two infant brothers.
