MRS. DAVIS
DEAD AT 82

Mrs. Jennie W. Davis, widow of Otis Davis passed away on Tuesday at the advanced age of 82 years and 22 days. Her husband preceded her in death in December of 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Davis were long time residents of the Searsboro vicinity but for the past 18 months she had been living in the Talbott nursing home in Grinnell.

Mrs. Davis was born in Grinnell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Christoper. Most of her active life was spent on the farm southwest of Searsboro.

Funeral services conducted by Miss Myrtle C. Lee, pastor of the Friends church in Searsboro were held this afternoon at the Smith funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bohstedt provided special music. The pallbearers, who had served also at the funeral of her husband, were Ernest Brignon, Glenn Brignon, Everett Emmert, Frank Mitchell, Raymond Mitchell and Milo Phillips. Interment was in the Friends cemetery southeast of Lynnville.

OBITUARY

MRS. JENNIE DAVIS

Jennie Willena Christoper Davis, daughter of Stephen and Ann Christopher, was born on a farm southeast of Grinnell Jan. 15, 1868, and departed this life March 7, in Grinnell, having attained the age of 82 years.

She spent her girlhood days in Grinnell and taught school for 13 years before she met and married James Otis Davis on April 12, 1902. They settled on a farm a mile and a half southwest of Searsboro where they lived until three years ago, when they began spending their winters in Grinnell.

Mr. Davis preceded his wife in death on Dec. 9, 1948. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Holden Christopher, and a half brother, Louis Nelson.

She was a member of the Congregational church of Grinnell. "Aunt Jennie" was the last member of her immediate family, having no children. Her only survivors are distant cousins and the relatives of her late husband.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Myrtle C. Lee were held in Grinnell March 9, with burial in the Friends cemetery in Lynnville.
